Yoga is a practice of integrating mind, body, intellect and spirit. It is a path of personal and spiritual growth. We learn to connect to our authentic self and the others we share the universe with. It is beyond the asana as it is known in sanskrit (postures) and the ancient texts that teach us of this practice encompass so much more wisdom than the simplicity of a downward dog. Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras show us an accessible path of living that contains eight limbs or sections and asana is only one of these. This course explores the full eight limbs and considers how these can be integrated into daily life to connect with and express our most authentic self.
This Course Covers:
- Yamas – external restraints and how we respond to the world around us
- Niyamas – internal restraints and how we related to ourselves.
- Pranayama – breath control and calling the parasympathetic nervous system in the rescue
- Asana – a daily practice
- Pratyhara – sensory withdrawal
- Dharana or concentration (mantra, breath, physical sensation.
- Dhyana – Meditation
