Walk and talk therapy is an alternative to working in a traditional therapeutic room. We go outdoors and we walk and we talk. Exploring issues in an outside setting. Walking alongside each other can increase a feeling of equality and empathy like you are not alone and someone is alongside you in your journey. This can enable a greater sense of trust an opening up with less pressure of face to face eye contact. Rhythmic movement such as walking can in itself be soothing and help you to relax. A natural environment can increase a sense of freedom and creativity. We can feel more grounded and safe to consider new perspectives. Endorphins are released in the body as we move to enable us to face difficult issues whilst feeling more balanced.
As a Clinical Psychologist I am trained in a variety of talking therapies and I will integrate these depending on what best suits the needs of the client.
